The Clarion UK Employment team have been working hard to develop links to deliver Deaf Awareness training across the UK. We were recently invited to Stonyhurst College, the UK’s leading co-educational Catholic Boarding School in Clitheroe to deliver Deaf Awareness training which resulted in superb delivery and exceptional feedback.
To deliver Deaf Awareness to its fullest impact, where possible, we place Deaf trainers into bookings to offer their invaluable first-hand experiences. This time it was Simeon Hart who took centre stage. Simeon’s passion lies in delivering sessions to highlight the challenges faced by the Deaf community and helping others to put strategies in place to help create a more inclusive environment for Deaf individuals.
Simeon attended along with his interpreter, Dr Alex McDonald and delivered two half-day’s training covering 25 employees who now have improved and developed skills and knowledge.
The training included a run through of Deaf terminology, communication tips as well as a whole range of topics to allow staff members effective and confident communication with Deaf individuals. The feedback from the session was phenomenal:
- “An Excellent course, very informative”
- “What a fabulous course!”
- “Very educational and entertaining- the session was incredible, delivered by two extremely competent and knowledgeable trainers”
- “Wow- mind blowing and has opened my mind completely”
Another incredibly successful delivery of training – simple steps taken by employers, really can change experiences for Deaf people. The Employment team currently deliver training nationally, if you would like more information on our training sessions please head over to the services page or contact the Employment team on 01763 291212 or send them an email.
