London South Bank University

We have a longstanding partnership with London South Bank University; they required the services of Clarion to provide specialist support for their Deaf and hard of hearing students studying a whole range of subjects at undergraduate level including computer
sciences, occupational physiotherapy and marketing.

Since 2009 we have supplied them with a team of over 100 BSL/English interpreters, notetakers and specialist language tutors to meet the needs of over 30 Deaf and hearing impaired students. We have delivered Interpreter Awareness Training to tutors as well as providing continuous support to the university’s students. We have also provided them with a series of videos. As a result of this, the academic teams are confident and competent in their approach to teaching Deaf and hard of hearing students, ensuring a supportive environment for interpreters as well as consistency and clarity for students.

Why did they choose Clarion?

“Clarion are approachable and made themselves available to work in partnership with our organisation to provide the best quality support possible for our Deaf and hard of hearing students. The service is always of a high quality and we work closely with Clarion to review the support on offer as well as deliver training on Deaf awareness for academic teams”
