Academy at Westminster City Council declared ‘Deaf Aware’
Clarion UK provided half a day of Deaf Awareness Training to Westminster City Council’s Advisor Academy* Team during April. What fun the 14 participants had in learning about all things Deaf related, together with identifying the specific barriers and practical solutions to overcome them!
As ever, our Trainer, Jeanette, was on top form with positive feedback aplenty such as…
“Informative, thoroughly knowledgeable, lively, and interactive” (training content) and “I loved the personal lived experience shared by Jeanette”
The participants were also able to learn how to fingerspell their names from Jeanette and Jeanette expects them to be able to introduce themselves by fluently fingerspell their own names, should they meet again in the future!
Analysis of the feedback from the training generated some great figures to shout about:
The below are those that rated the specific training contents as ‘excellent’
86% of participants said that the training met their expectations
92% said that the training was relevant to their jobs
100% rated the Trainer very knowledgeable on Deaf Awareness
92% felt that the training was of high quality
92% felt that the training would be useful for other colleagues.
And finally…
100% of participants said that they had FUN!
We also received a lot of feedback comments and some in particular said it all…
“Excellent, best training I’ve attended in a long time”
“Great training, I learnt a lot, thank you”
And on the key subjects the majority of the participants trained in…
“Learning the difference between BSL and SSE and regional differences”
Ruth Kebedom, Advisor Training Academy Manager commented…
“Really great feedback and enjoyed by all. Thanks so much for organising. We would love to do another session later in the year! I caught up with one of my colleagues and he said that he was very impressed, enjoyed and learned from the training himself- excellent really and very pleased how it all went and in particular with the trainer”
All 14 participants were issued with Attendance Certificates to take pride of place in their collection as part of their CPD (Continuing Professional Development).
